Day Two | Tuesday

THE WISDOM OF THE WORD

Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.

Psalm 119:97-100 (NIV)

People once believed that more information would make the world wiser. The internet proved otherwise. We thought knowledge would save us; then came the internet, and we learned that wisdom is something else entirely. The world could sure use some wisdom right now. And, even more, so could I.

A few weeks ago, I met a young woman who loved reading. She grew up reading. I believe her dad was an author. But the thing was, she never thought of books as guides for life; that is, until she opened her Bible one quiet morning. She told me about her time reading Psalm 119, and these words leapt off the page: Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors (vs. 24). She showed me where she highlighted this verse in her Bible. Her eyes lit up as she told the story. For the first time, she saw God’s Word not as rules, but as wisdom for decisions about relationships and a pressing decision about school. I remember her story because it was very similar to mine. I didn’t grow up reading the Bible, or much of anything for that matter. My sister gave me a Bible that sat on my desk for years. Then, finally, I gave it a try. I opened it and began reading. It was as if all at once I was hearing God’s voice. His Word is becoming the source of wisdom and understanding and truth in all the areas of my life. Well… that’s what I’m aiming for!

Today, let’s remember that God gives wisdom to all who ask. He gives generously to those who seek Him.

APPLICATION: In what area of life are you in need of God’s wisdom? Where do you feel most stuck? Stop and ask God to guide you into greater wisdom.

PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for Your Word, my constant guide and light when I feel lost. Please open my heart and mind so I can truly receive Your wisdom and live it out today. Help me trust You. May Your Word shape my thoughts, my decisions, and the way I live, so that I can walk faithfully in Your truth and reflect Your love and glory in everything I do. Amen.
